Jr. docs’ stir enters Day Two

Hyderabad
Nov. 10: The agitation by the junior resident doctors, for an increase in their stipend, entered its second day on Tuesday.
The doctors staged an hour-long demonstration in front of all the teaching hospitals. Apart from not co-operating in discharging Arogyasri duties, the junior doctors have threatened to boycott out-patient and emergency duties. The doctors have been told that their demands has been forwarded to the state government. “We are told that the file is pending with the Pay Revision Commission. But then we do not come under its jurisdiction,” said Dr S. Nagesh, the convenor of the Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA).
Meanwhile, fresh graduates who plan to join government hospitals should be able to handle digital cameras. Junior doctors treating Arogyasri patients have to carry a digital camera to keep photograpic records of the body part which is being operated upon and the mugshot of the patient. These photographs are then to be submitted to Arogyasri Trust along with other documents.
