Fight Diabetes with Coffee

Coffee in coffee cup
Go ahead–have another cup.

Coffee may decrease your risk of type 2 diabetes, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Study participants who drank five 8-ounce cups of coffee a day had less internal inflammation—a risk factor for type 2 diabetes—than those who didn’t drink any joe.

Coffee may boost the concentration of adiponectin, a protein in the body that helps regulate glucose, the study said.

Researchers speculate that drinking less than five cups a day may also be beneficial, although more study is needed.
