Over The Rainbow: Dani's not Dorothy!

Over The Rainbow: Dani's not Dorothy! Dani Rayner has become the latest person to get the boot from BBC1's Over The Rainbow, after finding herself in the sing off for the first time.

The 16-year-old - who was the youngest finalist in the competition - lost out to Danielle Hope, who was also in the bottom two. Graham Norton also revealed that Dani had finished last in the public vote.

The pair performed the song Maybe This Time from Cabaret in the sing off before Andrew Lloyd Webber made his decision on who to save.

"The extraordinary thing about this competition is that it hasn't gone the way anyone expected," he said, "and it's a totally different bottom pair to the week before. But I'm going to save Danielle."

And he had some words of encouragement for a tearful Dani before she left. "You're a fantastic singer and I think you have to become more at ease with your own body. But you are the youngest and I think you've got a great future."

Dani said afterwards, "It is going to be really hard to say goodbye to all the girls, but I'd just like to say thank you so much because I've learned so much. And good luck to everybody who's still in."

Saturday evening had seen Dani receive a mixed response from the judges for her rendition of One Night Only from the musical Dreamgirls.

"This isn't a Dorothy song," Sheila Hancock told her, "and it isn't for your age group." However John Partridge disagreed. "That was your strongest performance to
date," he said.

Eight girls now remain in the competition for the chance to win the role of Dorothy in Lloyd Webber's new production of
The Wizard Of Oz.
